If you like to visit, then this is the opportunity for you.
Volunteers will be matched with an older adult living in Fairfield County and within close proximity to your location.
Volunteers provide for regular visits to isolated, homebound older adults to reduce isolation and loneliness. Letter writing, reading letters, working puzzles, playing cards, and holding conversation are typical activities of friendly visitors.
Volunteers will visit a minimum of 2 hours a month with an older adult who has been identified as needing social connections.
Training and on-going support is provided.

Supporting the health and well-being of our community’s seniors is important work and we simply cannot meet the growing demand for services without the help of many dedicated volunteers. Meals on Wheels volunteers perform a variety of functions within the agency.
Whatever you decide, your commitment is sure to make a difference for the seniors in our community.
Delivery drivers are always in demand providing the vital link between our services and our clients, delivering not only meals, but also a friendly smile and a daily safety check.

There are many opportunities for volunteers at the Fairfield County Park District. These include helping at public programs or educational events, greeting visitors at Rock Mill, invasive plant control, tree planting and park maintenance and improvements. Other special opportunities occur from time to time. Most events are scheduled, but volunteers can sometimes participate on their own schedule, for instance as trail rovers or pollinator garden helpers.
Volunteers should submit an application online at the link below, and must pass a background check before being accepted. For questions about volunteer programs, please contact volunteer coordinator Carol Abbott.

Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio has a current build project where they actively need volunteers!
Starting April 12th, we are building a home in Pleasantville Ohio, and need volunteers to help make the dream of homeownership a reality! You can sign up and join us Wednesday – Saturday 9am to 4pm. NO skills are required to volunteer. Our Site Supervisor, Robert, is on the build site building alongside you and teaching the skills needed for the day.
Do you have experience building? We hope you join us as well. You can sign up for full or half day shifts. You can sign up individually or bring a whole group. It’s a great way to meet new people, team build, and be part of something that has tangible progress at the end of the day!
Should you have any questions please email Biatta Grimes – Volunteer Director or call (740) 592-0032 x 104
The build site is always a place you will likely leave a little dirty so dress for that possibility. Bring a change of shoes since it is typically always muddy. A plastic bag is great to put your muddy shoes in at the end of the day. Safety is very important to us so closed-toe shoes are required and all build-site volunteers need to be 16 years of age and up.
Our homes are built almost entirely by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Whether you are a contractor or have never picked up a hammer in your life, we need your help! All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary. Orientations take place at the start of each shift.
Wednesday – Saturday
9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
