Lancaster Makes Top Five Great Places to Live, Work, Visit

Lancaster, Ohio will be recognized as a great place to live, work and visit in Ohio Magazine’s annual Best Hometowns issue, which will be published November 1, 2023.

To determine this year’s honorees, Ohio Magazine solicited nominations in the spring and conducted visits across the state over the summer. Six categories were evaluated by the editors to arrive at their selections: Community Spirit, Education, Entertainment, Health and Safety, Business Environment, and Culture and Heritage.

The magazine’s editors chose Lancaster for its welcoming downtown, rich history and strong sense of community spirit.

“Of course, we know that Lancaster is an amazing place to live, work, visit – and create a vibrant, fulfilling life. However, to be recognized by an impartial entity like Ohio Magazine is incredibly validating and exciting for everyone who works so hard to make our community such an incredible place,” said Amanda Everitt, Executive Director, Destination Downtown Lancaster (DDL). “We are especially honored to learn that the editors noted our welcoming downtown as one of the key reasons for recognizing Lancaster – because that is recognition of the collective effort of public and private entities and every individual who spends time in our downtown district.”

Each of Ohio Magazine’s Best Hometowns honorees will be featured in both the November/December 2023 and July/August 2024 issues of the magazine and online at ohiomagazine.com, giving readers a look at what makes each community special.
