Lancaster Educators Honored
for Empowering Girls

Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), the nation’s leading nonprofit focused on programming, research and education for girls is calling attention to The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recent Youth Risk Behavior Survey Report and honoring school districts across the country that are making meaningful investments in future female leaders.

Lancaster City School System is among those being recognized for outstanding participation in this endeavor.

“We know that girls across the country are struggling profoundly. The February 2023 CDC report showed that 60% of girls report feeling persistently sad or hopeless, 30% have contemplated suicide and 1 in 5 have experienced sexual violence,” said Dr. Lisa Hinkleman, CEO at ROX. “I am proud that Lancaster City Schools is working to combat these challenges and is one of the 500+ schools across the country creating meaningful opportunities and connections for girls.”

School-based ROX Programs are delivered by licensed school counselors, social workers, psychologists and educators. Programming is designed to provide girls with life and leadership skills, meaningful connections, support and the confidence and competence to pursue a future they love.

“Our ROX facilitators have contributed significantly to ensuring that girls at Lancaster City Schools are equipped with the information and skills they need to face the challenges they encounter throughout their adolescent years,” said Nathan Hale, superintendent of Lancaster City Schools. “Locally, the following facilitators have been an essential part of this work and we are proud to celebrate their investment in creating the next generation of female leaders.”
