Women In History Luncheon – Tella Effinger
August 9, 2023 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
This year’s Women in History Luncheon will feature the story of Tella Effinger and provide a unique perspective on her experience living in Lancaster during the Civil War.
The play is written by local actress and playwright, Marilyn Steiner and portrayed by a trio of actresses: Leslie Glenn, Constance Glenn & Norah Hanson.
We will learn about Tella Effinger’s life as the daughter of a friend to General William T. Sherman, and a wife and mother after the war. We will be fascinated by life in Lancaster seen through her young eyes, and moved by her struggles and hardships she faced in early adulthood.
By celebrating her story and the stories of other generations of women, we continue to honor and uphold the value of their contributions, as well as the strength of their character. The Women in History Luncheon for 2023 continues the tradition of using talented local actors, researchers and writers to keep the stories of women alive and preserve our local history.
Tickets are $45/each and include lunch from Ale House.
