Daisy Was A Good Dog

Publisher’s Note: The community lost a very special companion recently. We want to share the story and the good that is coming out of that loss. We have an opportunity to make direct impact, helping to relieve suffering right here in our community. This is Vickie Rambo’s story…

Our beloved Daisy came to us as a neglected and emaciated one year old mix tied up in a backyard. She stole our hearts within a day and for 12 years was a beloved pet; friend and registered therapy dog that was especially endearing to special needs kids.

She was the “Safety Town” dog for Lancaster for six years each June. Even though she came from a horrific background, she had the kindest heart and loved everyone.

Sadly, Daisy passed away suddenly on April 23, 2023 from an unknown cardiac problem.

Many that know me are aware of the passion I have for helping an animal rescue save the lives of dogs and cats that are abandoned, neglected, abused or unwanted. The rescue does an outstanding job of taking in countless animals in need, many from high kill shelters. My special burden is for the middle age or older pet that is neglected or abandoned at a shelter because they have health issues that someone can’t deal with.

It’s for these pets that I am creating DAISY’S FUND that will help with veterinary needs beyond the basics of a rescue.

To honor and remember our precious Daisy, the medical fund will be established at Lancaster Animal Clinic where I have worked for 16 years and will only be funded by donations. Two veterinarians and I will make decisions on how the funds will be used for those with needs.

Our focus will be for rescues in need of medical care while they wait for their forever family. It will cover medical work-up for illnesses, x-rays, dental care, and possible surgery based on donations available. Additional services may be provided.

Daisy touched so many lives in a positive way throughout Fairfield County. Please help her legacy live on by spreading the word and making a donation to DAISY’S FUND at Lancaster Animal Clinic, 1311 River Valley Blvd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130. The clinic phone number is (740) 687-1591 if you want to make a donation by phone.
